Opening November 17th and lasting until December 24th, the Christkindlmarket in Chicago is an outdoor market you won’t want to miss. Here, there’s a treat or souvenir for everyone. (And, it’s free!)
From ornaments and crafts to traditional German eats, like sausages, potato pancakes, hot cocoa, beer, and pretzels, there’s so much to explore. Located at Daley Plaza, it attracts over one million people each year. (You want to be one of those people.)
Head To The Theater
There’s no better time to see some serious talent than during the holidays, when everyone happens to be in a more lively, festive mood. And, there are tons of musicals and family shows in Chicago to choose from. An example? Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which opens November 18th and goes through December 31st at the Albert Goodman Theater. This is sure to put your family in good holiday spirits.
Family selfie at the Bean? That’s one for the books. Millennium Park is beautiful during the holiday season, and there are tons of fun activities to do that the whole family will love. For instance, you can go the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink for a day full of skating and giggles. Opening right at the start of November, it’ll last from November 7th to March 4th. And, if you have your own skates, it’s free. Though, you can rent them, too.
Who can resist shopping during the holidays, especially when many stores have sales and promotions. Luckily, if you’re with your family in Chicago during the holidays, you’ll have plenty of stores to choose from. Heading straight to the Magnificent Mile shopping district will get the job done fast. (Though time will also fly by because you’re having so much fun.)
