If you’re looking for a major brain-boost, head to Chicago Ideas Week taking place October 16th to the 22nd. Here, you can choose from various talks, labs, and conversations, where you can listen to and learn from leading figures in the entrepreneurial world and get your hands dirty by participating in a few labs, for direct experience and knowledge. Run Or Watch The Chicago Marathon
There’s nothing quite like watching thousands of people run through the streets of Chicago—the constant sound of pounding of feet hitting the pavement and cheering from the sidelines. This year, the Chicago marathon takes place on October 8th, and thanks to easy transportation in Chicago, you can wave to friends and family at several of the 26-mile marks.
Head To A Beer Tasting
Sure, this one might be “adults only,” but there’s no reason to not have a Friday night out, sipping on beers and ciders and some festive, fall bites. At Festiv-ale in Chicago, on October 20th, local breweries will create crafted drinks to go with a selected food pairings from local vendors. And, you’ll be drinking in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, so all that booze is going to a good cause!
Get A Scare At Fright Flicks At Navy Pier
For any thriller, scary movie buff—but also kid-friendly—Navy Pier’s Fright Flicks events taking place October 21st and October 28th are sure to spice up your Halloween traditions this year. With back-to-back movies each day, families can gather around, munch on some popcorn, and get ready to scream. Movies include: Monsters, Inc., Ghostbusters (2016), Monster House, and Beetlejuice.

October is a great month to explore Chicago, take in its fine, colorful autumn leaves, and get some fresh air, as the chilling breeze isn’t too cold, just yet.
